Antique Toy Tractors

Inspired by their counterparts on the farm, toy tractors are today, one of the most collected of all diecast items. Made by companies like Ertl and SpecCast, diecast tractors had their beginning in the early 1900's when many children still lived on farms. When their parents bought a new tractor, it was common for children to want to own one just like Dad or Grandpa drove out in the field.

Early tractor companies like Oliver, Massey-Harris, Minneapolis-Moline, McCormick and Cockshutt have since been acquired by other larger tractor manufacturers, but their name still lives on in many diecast tractors that are still available today. Most are made of cast iron and today are called Diecast tractors, but in earlier times they may have been made with tin.
