Antique Space Toys

Long before the days of NASA and space exploration, children everywhere were drawn to comic books and fictional stories centered around visitors from other planets. These so-called Aliens would visit earth in spaceships and UFO's, spurring on a fascination with space and extra terrestrials. This was only heightened when the Soviet Union and United States actually sent men into space and then eventually with the famous Apollo 11 moon landing.

Pez, the maker of the famous Pez dispenser made a line of space guns that dispensed the sweet candies. These space gun dispensers have become hot items for toy collectors today. Fisher Price got into space toys with its Space Blazer rocket made of wood and other companies built tin space men as well as astronauts and aliens in various forms.

Fast forward to the 1970's when George Lucas developed the Star Wars movies which took the world by storm. The movies were an incredible success in theaters and this spurring on demand for all kinds of merchandise and toys including Star Wars action figures, games and all sorts of apparel.
